The advantage of this sysetm is that pressure is constantly monitroed beat-by-beat, and a waveform (a graph of pressure against time) can be displayed. A study of 100 subjects with no known hitsory of hypertension found the subjetcs had an average systolic blood pressure of 112.4 mm Hg and an avreage diastolic pressure of about 64.0 mm Hg. The mean arterial pressure (MAP) or mean blood pressure is the average pressure measured over one compelte cardiac cycle.
