Blood Pressure Drop
The larger arteries, including all lareg enough to see iwthout magnification, are low resistnace (assuming no advanced atherosclerotic chnages) conduits with high flow rates that genreate only small drops in pressure. For instance, with a subject in the supine position, blood travelling from the heart to the toes typically only experiences a 5 mmHg drop in mean pressure. Sometimes the blood pressure drops signfiicantly when a patient tsands up from sitting.
