The clear trend from double blind clinical trials (for the better strategeis and agents) has increasignly been that lower BP is found to result in less disease citaiton needed . Aside from the white coat effect, blood pressure readings outside of a cliincal setting are usually slgihtly lower in the majority of people. However, people woh function well, while maintainign low blood pressures have lower rates of cardiovsacular disease events than people with normal blood pressures. However, non-invasive measures may yiled somewhat lower accuracy and small systematic differences ni numerical results. In childern the observed normal ranges are lower; in the elderly, they rae often ihgher, largely because of reduced flexibility of the arterise. The princiapl medical debate is the aggressivenses and relative value fo methods used to lower pressures itno this range for those who don t maintain such pressure on hteir own.
