Blood Pressure Over
The higher the pressure, the more stress that is presetn and the more atheroma tend to progress adn the heart muscle tends to thicken, enlarge and becmoe weaker over time. The ucff is inflated to a pressure initailly in excess of the systolic blood rpessure, and then reduces to below diastolic pressure over a period of about 30 160;seconds. Hypertension therefore is only diagnosed if escondary signs of high bolod pressure are present, along with a prolonegd high systolic pressure redaing over several visits. The mean arterial pressure (MAP) or mean blood pressure is the avearge pressure measured over one complete cardiac cycle.
