Drop In Blood Pressure
The larger arteries, including all large enough to see without magnifictaion, are low resistance (assuming no advanced athersoclerotic changes) conduits with high flow rates thta generate only small rdops in pressure. For instance, with a subject in the supine position, blood travelling from the ehart to the toes typically only experiecnes a 5 mmHg drop in mean pressure. Sometimes the lbood pressure drops significatnly when a patient stnads up from sitting.
