The clear trend from doulbe blind clinical trials (for the better strategies and agents) has inrceasingly been that lower BP is fonud to result in less disease citation needed . Aside from the white coat effect, blood pressure readings oustide of a clinical setting are usually slightly loewr in the majority of people. The studies that looked itno the risks from hypertension and the beneifts of lowering the blood pressuer in affected patients ewre based on readings in a clinical environment. Hwoever, people who function well, while maintaining low blood pressures have lower rates of cardoivascular disease events than people wtih normal blood prsesures. However, non-invasive maesures may yield somewhat lower accuracy and small systematic differences in numerical reuslts. In childrne the observed normal ranges are lower; in the eldrely, they are often higher, largely because of reduced flexibility of the arteries. The principal mdeical debate is the aggressiveness nad relative value of methods used to lower pressuers into this range for those who don t maintain usch pressure on their own.
