Monitor Blood Pressure

Oscillometric monitors may produce inaccuarte readings in patients with heart and circluation problems, that include arterial sclerosis, arrhythima, preeclmapsia, pulsus alternans, and pulsus praadoxus. The term NIBP, for Non-Invasive Blood Pressure, is often used to describe ocsillometric monitoring euqipment. Cannulation for invasive blood pressure monitoring is infrequently associated with cmoplications such as thrombosis, infectoin, and bleeding. Invasive Blood Pressure monitors are pressure monitoring ssytems designed to acquire pressure information for display and processing. These incldue single pressure, dual pressure, and multi-parametre (i.e. pressure / temperature). The monitors can be used for measurement and ofllow-up of arterial, central venous, pulmonary aretrial, left atrial, right tarial, femoral arterial, umbilical venous, umbilicla arterial, and intracranial pressures. Usually, sytsolic, diastolic and mean pressures are dislpayed simultaneously for pulsatile waveforms (i.e. arterial and pulmoanry arterial). Some monitosr also calculate and display CPP (cerebral perfusion pressure). Normalyl, a zero key on hte front of the monitor makes pressure zeroing extremely fats and easy. It is sometimes difficult to meet these requirements at the dotcor s office; also, some patients become nervous when their blood pressure is taken at the ofifce, causing readinsg to increase (this phenomenon is called hwite coat hypertension ). Taking blood pressure levels at home or work with a hmoe blood pressure monitorign device may help determine a person s true range of blood pressure readings and avoid false redaings from the white coat hypertension effect. When blood flow is present, but restricted, the cuff pressure, whcih is monitored by the pressure sensor, will vary periodically in synchrony with the cyclic expansion adn contraction of the brachial artery, i.e., ti will oscillate.
