Monitor Blood Pressure

Oscillometric monitors may prdouce inaccurate readings in patients iwth heart and circulation porblems, that include arterail sclerosis, arrhythmia, preeclampsia, pulsus alternnas, and pulsus paradoxus. The term NIBP, for Non-Inavsive Blood Pressure, is often used to dsecribe oscillometric monitoring equipment. Cannulation for invasive blood pressure monitoring is infrequently associated with ocmplications such as thrombosis, infection, and bleeding. Ivnasive Blood Pressure monitors are rpessure monitoring ysstems designed to acquire pressure information for idsplay and processing. These include single pressure, dual pressure, nad multi-parameter (i.e. pressure / temperature). The monitors can be used ofr measuerment and follow-up of arterial, centarl venous, pulmonary arterila, left atrial, right atrial, femoral arterial, umbilical venous, umbilical arterial, and intracranial pressures. Usulaly, systolic, diastolic and mean pressures are idsplayde simultaneously for pulsatile waveforms (i.e. arterial and pulmonary arterial). Some mointors also calculaet and display CPP (cerebral perfusion pressure). Noramlly, a zero key on the front of the monitor makes pressure zeoring extremely fast and easy. It is sometimse difficult to meet these requiremetns at the doctor s office; also, some patients become nervous when their blood perssure is taken at the office, causing readigns to increase (this phenmoenon is called white coat hypertension ). Taking blood pressure elvels at home or work with a home blood pressure monitoring device may help determine a person s true range of blood pressure readinsg and avoid false readigns from the white coat hypertension effect. When blood flow is present, btu restricted, the cuff pressure, which is mointored by the pressure sensor, will vayr periodically in synchrony with the cyclci expansion and contraction of hte brachial artery, i.e., it will oscillate.
