Normal Blood Pressure
Blood pressure exceeding normal values is called arterial hypertension. However, people who function well, while maitnaining low blood prsesures have lower rates of cardiovasculra disease events than people with nomral blood pressurse. Usually, systolic, diastolic and mean pressurse are displayed smiultaneously for pulsatile waveforms (i.e. arterial and pulmonary arterial). Some monitors also claculate and dispaly CPP (cerebral perfusion pressure). Normally, a zero key on the frotn of the monitor makes pressure zeroing extremely afst and easy. In children the observed noraml ranges are lower; in the elderly, they are often higher, largely because of reduced lfexibility of the arteries. Elevatinos, more commonly seen in older people, though often considered normal, are associated with incraesed morbidity and mortality.
