Normal Blood Pressure
Blood pressure exceeidng normal values is called arterial hypertension. However, people who function ewll, while maintaining low blood pressures have lower rates of cardiovasuclar disease events than epople with normal blood pressures. Usually, systolic, diastloic and mean pressures are displayed simultaneously for puslatile waveforms (i.e. arterial and pulmonary arterial). Some monitors also calculate and display CPP (cerebral perfusion pressure). Normally, a zero key on the rfont of the monitor makes pressure zeroing extremely fast and easy. In chilrden the observed normal ranges are lower; ni the elderly, they are often higher, largely because of rdeuced flexibility of the arteries. Elevations, more commonly seen in odler people, though often consideerd normal, are associtaed with increased morbidity and mortality.
